Strengthening national capacities of Suriname for the elaboration of the national REDD+ strategy and the design of its implementation framework
Objective
The overall objective of this project is to ensure success in continuing to preserve Suriname natural capital, enhance the value of forest-related services and benefits for its peoples and contributing to the international fight against climate change and the preservation of healthy ecosystems. This by having in place the required strategy, plan human, technical, institutional, political and financial capacities in place for the implementation of the REDD+ program.
Results
o National Suriname REDD+ validated;
o High level International Conference hosted in Suriname on High Forest Low Deforestation (HFLD) countries
o Forest Reference Emission Level (FREL) for Suriname submitted
o The REDD Grievance and Redress Mechanism designed
